Deliciously Simple: Oven Roasted Tomato Sauce Recipe for Busy Families

Our Oven Roasted Tomato Sauce recipe is designed specifically for busy families who crave the taste of home-cooked goodness without the stress. With minimal prep time and the magic of oven roasting, you can transform fresh tomatoes into a savory sauce that elevates any dish. Say goodbye to store-bought sauces filled with preservatives and hello to a wholesome, versatile staple that your family will love. Let’s dive into this easy and satisfying recipe that brings the warmth of homemade cooking into your kitchen, even on the busiest of nights!

Ingredients:


2 big handful of tomatoes

2tbsp olive oil

a bunch of fresh herbs   (thyme, oregano, basil, parsley, chives..)

optional: fresh vegetables of your choice and availability

salt and pepper to taste


Directions:


  1. Cover the baking tray with parchment paper.


  2. Rinse and coarsely chop larger tomatoes, keep cherry tomatoes whole, and place them on the baking tray.


  3. Add any desired herbs and other vegetables like celery or zucchini.


  4. Drizzle the tomatoes and herbs with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Gently mix everything. Ensure the herbs are covered by the tomatoes to prevent burning and allow them to cook between the tomatoes.


  5. Place the tray in the oven and roast the tomatoes at 380°F (190°C) for about 1 hour. The longer you cook them, the more the liquid will reduce.


  6. Process the roasted tomatoes through a food mill. Alternatively, you can use a blender or hand mixer, but be sure to remove any tough herb stems.


Enjoy it with pasta, as a pizza sauce or preserve it for future use.
