Mobile Therapeutic Horticulture Initiative
Delivering Accessible Therapeutic Garden Spaces Across Care Settings
In a time when healthcare systems are under increasing pressure from rising patient volumes, staff burnout, and growing mental health needs, innovative and low-barrier interventions are more important than ever. The Mobile Therapeutic Horticulture (TH) Garden Initiative by My Nordic Garden offers a practical, flexible, and research-informed solution—bringing the proven benefits of nature-based therapy directly to the doorsteps of healthcare and community institutions.
Our Mobile Therapeutic Horticulture Initiative is a facilitator-led, nature-based health program designed to support physical, mental, and social well-being among adults who face barriers to accessing traditional outdoor spaces or community programming. Using mobile, wheelchair-accessible garden systems, we deliver structured therapeutic horticulture directly to care settings, including hospitals, long-term care homes, rehabilitation centres, and community spaces.
By combining evidence-informed therapeutic horticulture practices with adaptable, low-barrier infrastructure, the initiative allows programming to take place indoors or outdoors, year-round, and across both urban and rural environments. This flexibility ensures that meaningful engagement with plants and seasonal rhythms remains accessible, even for those with limited mobility, cognitive challenges, or environmental constraints.
Through guided, hands-on experiences with plants, participants are invited to reconnect with nature, themselves, and others—supporting healing, resilience, and a sense of purpose in everyday care environments.
